‘Jugalbandi’

Sursagar and  Alliance Française are coming together to present a sitar jugalbandi by Ustad Rafique Khan and Ustad Shafique Khan along with their disciple Ankush Nayak on August 4, 6.30 pm at Alliance Française.

‘Young Performer...’


The Majolly Music Trust, in collaboration with Theme and Kawai Pianos, will present Mathilde Legrand (piano) and Jasiel Peter (violin) as part of their ongoing ‘Young Performer Concert Series’, which will showcase India’s young musicians.
Supported by Rezonant Design Pvt Ltd, the concert will be held on August 5, 5.30 pm at Theme Piano World, Koramangala.

‘Krishnanubhavam’

A vocal concert on Krishnanubhavam by Subha Sampath will held on August 10, 6.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre Auditorium, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur II Stage.

Carnatic recital

On the occasion of 78th Avataramahotsav celebration of Jayendrasaraswati Swami of Kanchi Kamakotipeetam, on August 3, 6.30 pm, a Carnatic classical vocal music recital by Seetha Satyanarayana will be held. She will be accompanied by M S Govindaswamy on violin and M A Krishnamurthy on mridangam. The venue is Kanchikamakoti Mutt, 5th Main, Malleswaram.

Children’s play

DreamScope Theatre is coming up with its first children’s play ‘The Forest’, written and directed by Puja Goyal. The play is performed by children and is for children. Keeping in tune with the theme of the play, the stage of ‘The Forest’ is made of recycled and waste material and is eco-friendly.

The play will be staged on August 5, 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm at the JSS Auditorium.

 Training session

The British Council is inviting UK alumni to participate in ‘Communicating across Cultures’, a three-hour, theatre-based training session which explores the dynamics between people and groups through the understanding of the significance of physical presence and body language on August 3, 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm at British Library, 23, Prestige Takt, Kasturba Road Cross.

The workshop will be facilitated by Emily Gray, Artistic Director – Trestle Theatre, UK. Emily has worked extensively in movement and devised storytelling theatre. She was previously the Artistic Director of TAG Theatre Company, a young people’s touring theatre based in Glasgow.

All participants will receive one complimentary ticket to the British Council presented theatre production ‘The Snow Queen’, which tours Bangalore on August 21 and 22.

 Tribute

As a tribute to Mathoor Krishnamurthy, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is presenting a seminar, music concert and dance recital on Jayadeva’s Geeta Govinda on August 8, 5 pm. The venue is Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Lecture

As a part of the ‘Dr N K A Iyer Memorial Endowment Lecture’, Dr V C Reddy will speak
on ‘Organic Farming’ on August 5, 6 pm at the Indian Institute of World Culture, Sri B P Wadia Road, Basavanagudi. For details, call 26678581.
