Nitya Nritya 2012



The three-day dance festival, Nitya Nritya organized by Nupura School of Bharathanatyam will commence from Saturday, August 18, 2012- the International Dance Day at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. The festival of dances held from August 18th – August 20, 2012 is being organized by Nupura School of Bharathanatyam in celebration of the International Dance Day and will be held at 3 venues- JSS Auditorium, Ravindra Kalakshetra and Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. The three-day dance festival will feature various classical dances by renowned artistes from across the country.

Nitya Nrithya will be inaugurated on August 18th at JSS Auditorium by Dr K. Siddappa, Director, JSS Foundation for Science and Society and Dr V.K.Aatre, President, Nupura and will be followed by a lecture demo on Sattriya Dances by Anitha Sharma from Assam and a Bharathanatyam recital by Yamini Muthanna. The Evening Festival inauguration will be followed by a Bharathanatyam performance by Smt. Urmila Sathayanarayana and Sattriya Dances by Anitha Sharma, Abhinaya Dance Academy, Assam.

The second day  of Nrita Nithya  August 19th will begin with a Seminar on Art Journalism followed by a Bharathanatyam performance by Aishwarya Nityananda at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. The Evening function at Ravindra Kalakshetra will start with a Kathak performance by Hari and Chethana followed by “Tat Tvam Asi” (A feature from Gita Govinda) from Nupura and directed by Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan.

The final day’s August 20 performances at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan will begin with a Lecture by Dr. Pappu Vengopala Rao on Jayadeva in Literature, Music, Dance and Films followed by a lecture demonstration on Nritarutya-Contemporary expressions in Indian Dance. This will be followed by a Bharathanatya by Preeti Sunderajan. The evening’s performance at Ravindra Kalakshekhar starts with a Bharathanatyam performance by Smt. Chitra Chandrasekhar Dasarathy followed by Thang Ta Martial dances by Huyen Lallong Manipur.

There will be college students performing on all the three days between 4 pm to 5.30 pm. The colleges that are participating includes Mount Carmel Degree College, St. Joseph College of Commerce, M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, MES College, Vidya Mandir PU College amongst others.

Be at JSS Auditorium, 18th, 11am onwards and at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, 10am to 4pm and Ravindra Kalakshetra, 6pm onwards, on August 19 and August 20.
