‘WTF Tour’


Evam Standup Tamasha is holding ‘WTF Tour’ on March 31, 7.30 pm. It will have Karthik Kumar, Aswin Rao, S Aravind, Naveen Richard and Bala Kumaran presenting their stand-up acts.

Joint effort

Malleswaram Enterprising Women’s  Society (MEWS) is holding an exhibition by Kamalakshi and her students, as part of its diamond jubilee celebrations, till March 29, 10 am to 7.30 pm at Bhoomika Hall, 37, Bhuma, 17th Cross, 6th Main, Malleswaram.

For the youth

A youth course, ‘Learning German is fun’, will be held from April 2 to 19 at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar. With songs and stories, dance and drama, movies and much more, the course for those in the age group of 12 to 16. The timing is Monday to Friday, 10 am to 12.15 pm.

Superintensive course for teenagers with international certification will be held from April 8 to May 23 at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar. The age group is 12 to 18 years and the timing is 2 pm to 6 pm. Intensive course for teenagers with international certification will be held from June 10 to Nov 29 at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 5.15 pm to 6.45 pm.) Carnatic lessons

Carnatic mandolin lessons by vidwan Mandolin Prasanna Kumar Ballal will be held at the World Music Centre, 42/1, East Park Road, between 17th and 18th Cross, Malleswaram. There will be a mandolin concert by Prasanna Ballal on March 31, 5 pm at the Hymamshu Jyothi Kala Peeta, 4th Main, 16th Cross, Malleswaram. He will be accompanied and supported by his student Sadhgun R Aithal. Accompanying them will be vidwan J K Sridhar on violin, vidwan A S N Swamy on mridangam and vidwan Srishylan on ghatam. ‘Battle of...’

‘Battle of the Bands’ regional finale 2013 will be held on March 28, 7 pm at Hard Rock Cafe, St Mark’s Road. At the event, one can watch Divine Raaga, ‘Aks’ and ‘Space Behind the Yellow Room’ fight it out at the regional finale.    

Percussion ensemble

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be presenting a ‘Laya Sourabha Percussion Ensemble’ by Guru Smruthi Kala Kendra, led by Sreenivas Murthy P, under the ‘Every Friday Cultural Evening Programme’ on March 29, 6.30 pm at Yavanika, State Youth Centre, Nrupathunga Road.

Rock on

Electronic Dance Music (EDM) artiste Tiësto will perform on March 30, 6 pm at Bhartiya City, 32/1, Thanisandra Main Road, Chokkanahalli.

Tiësto is a global EDM icon who has transcended musical genres. He is a Grammy nominee and winner of numerous MTV awards. Tiësto is being brought to the City by Sunburn Arena. The box office opens at 2 pm.

‘Odisha Day’

Orissa Cultural Association is celebrating ‘Odisha Day’ (Utkal Dibas) on March 31, 6.30 pm at Indirangar Sangeetha Sabha, 8th Main Road, HAL II Stage, Indiranagar.
The highlight of the programme will be an odissi and sambalpuri dance performance by Smaranika Jen and her students and a musical performance featuring traditional music of Orissa such as bhajan, odissi, chhaanda and palli geeta by Arjun Charan Samal and troupe. The programme is open to all.

DANCE

Bharatanatyam

Pruthvi P, a student of Sathyanarayana Raju, will be presenting a bharatanatyam recital at the Sai Nrithyotsav festival on April 1, 6.30 at Seva Sadan, 15th Cross, Malleswaram.

‘Margam’

Keerthana Ravi, a student of Padmini Ramachandran, will present a traditional bharatanatyam Margam on April 6, 6.15 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road.

Cultural steps

Nrityagram is conducting a residential culture camp for youngsters from April 22 to 28.

It will have dance, theatre, yoga, body conditioning, kalaripayattu, nature walks, bird watching etc modelled on the guru-shishya parampara.

It will be conducted by Bijayini Satpathy, a performer and teacher at Nrityagram and Atul Kumar. Bijayini, trained in odissi, has been a resident student and teacher at Nrityagram for the last 20 years.

She has also trained in chhau, kalaripayattu and aikido.

Atul Kumar is an actor, stage director and the artistic director of The Company Theatre, Mumbai.

He is trained in kathakali and kalaripayattu and in visual theatre with Philip Genty in France.

Raksha Karthik will present a bharatanatyam recital, Guruvandana, on March 30, 6 pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road. 

ART

‘Bargain’

A painting exhibition, titled ‘Bargain’, will be on display at Magnitude Gallery till March 31.

The latest collection will have more than 150 original paintings.

The range of original masterpieces has themes as varied as Ganesha, ‘abstract’, ‘architecture’, ‘rural’, ‘floral’ etc

Japanese touch

Tasveer, in association with The Japan Foundation and Luxure Louis Phillippe, is presenting an exhibition of contemporary photographs from Japan called ‘Hikari: Contemporary Photography from Japan’, from April 20 to May 10, 10 am to 6 pm at Sua House, 26/1 Kasturba Cross Road. To mark the opening of the event, exhibiting photographers Shiho Kito and Tokihiro Sato will give a talk about their work at the British Library on April 19, 6.30 pm.

Fine strokes

Paintings by Ramesh Gorjala, Leela Tyagi and Thota Vaikutam will be on display at Renaissance Gallerie till the end of March.

‘Give me...’

‘Give me the thumb of your right hand’, an exhibition of works by Shanti Prakash Nandesh, will be on display at Gallery Sumukha, 24/7 BTS Depot Road, Wilson Garden till April 20, 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. It is an attempt to explore the 'social purpose' in contemporary times. He uses metaphors of human relations in cities as a major factor affecting natural harmony in an urban
context.

‘Five Projects’

An exhibition called ‘Five Projects’ will be on display at Galleryske, 2 Berlie Street, Langford Town from March 31 to April 11. The arti­sts are Shivani Bhalla, Tara Kelton, Bharathesh D Yadav, Sujil S and Udaya Vir Singh.

‘Elements’

‘Elements’, an exhibition of painting, sculpture and sound by Avijit Dutta, Kazi Nasir, Ravi Shah, CF John and Madhuri Rao will be on display at Kynkyny Art, 104 Embassy Square, 148 Infantry Road till April 13. It is conceptualised by Lina Vincent Sunish.

‘Quiet Reflections’

A group exhibition, titled ‘Quiet Reflections’ will be held till April 13 at Crimson, The Hatworks Boulevard, 32 Cunningham Road. Some of the participating artists are Manoj Kach­angal, Murukeson K C, Prakash Ghadge and Vimal Chand.

‘Infinity of...’

Nivriti is presenting ‘Infinity of Hope’, a solo exhibition of charcoal art, by Jayant Hubli till April 18 at 72, Vishweshwaraya Layout, near Sir MVIT Engineering College, Nellakunte, Bettahalasur, Bangalore International Airport Road.
