Veena ensemble
A grand classical music ensemble with 75 veenas, called Naada Ranjini, will be held on April 24 at Sri Rama Seva Mandali, Fort High School premises.It will have talented veena artistes of Karnataka for the first time in a concert lead.  It is directed by Suma Sudhindra and Anuradha Madhusudhan. This feature is presented to celebrate 75 years of Sri Rama Seva Mandali.

Soulful evening
Nritya Sangeeta Milana, an evening of dance and music in aid of Ananya Arogyadhara, will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra, JC Road on April 13, 5.30 pm. 

Thematic ballet 
Naina’s Astha Pushpitam, a journey of emotions portrayed through the eyes of the danseuse based on the eight moods of women as depicted in Natyashastra, will be held on April 12, 7.30 pm at Alliance Française. Entry is free.

Puppet fest
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha will be conducting a unique puppet show programme in Indiranagar from April 12 to 14. This programme is called the Dhatu puppet festival and will precede with a massive procession in the streets around Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha before the formal inauguration at the auditorium of Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Purandara Bhavan, 8th Main, HAL second stage, Indiranagar. The programmes will be held at 3.30 pm and at 6 pm. It will feature Bhakta Prahalada on April 12, Jarasandha Vadhe on April 13 and Vijayanagara Vaibhava on April 14. Entry is free.

Kuchipudi
Artistes of Sri Padmavathi Kala Nikethan are performing a kuchipudi dance recital on April 11 at Srikanteshwara Bhavana (next to ICICI Bank) No. 74, 5th Cross, Malleswaram, during the Sri Ramothsava celebrations organised by Sri Rama Bhaktha Sabha, Srirampuram.

Cultural pieces
Students and artistes of Antara will be performing odissi, kathak, bharatanatyam, Hindustani and Carnatic music on April 13, 5 pm to 8 pm, at Oxford College Auditorium, 17th B Main, HSR Layout.
Light notes
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation will present Sugama Sangeetha by Geetha Sanjeeva Kulkarni on April 18, 6 pm at the Indian Institute of World Culture, 6, Sri BP Wadia Road, Basavanagudi. On April 20, 6 pm kuchipudi will be presented by Hema V. For details, call 26678581.

Choral competition
Majolly Music Trust, in collaboration with London College of Music Examinations, will be organising the ‘All India Western Classical Choral Competition’, a unique competition for western choral music on June 14, 15 and 16 for all choirs in India. This competition has been established to encourage and offer a performance opportunity for choirs in the sphere of western classical choral music. The closing date for entries is April 30.

Jazz connect
Wishbone Factory is presenting ‘Swing me a Song – A Jazz Connection’ on April 19, 7.30 pm at Alliance Francaise. The group will be backed by the four-piece band featuring Maya Mascarenhas on piano, Eric Samuel on lead guitar, Dominic Yesudas on double bass and Imraan Jamal on drums. Striking chords
A music discourse and a recital on santoor will be presented by Abhay Rustum Sopori on April 20, 6.30 pm at Alliance Francaise. The young santoor maestro and classical musician composes and conducts orchestras and folk ensembles. Entry is free. For details, call 40808181.

Parisian band
Parisian band ‘Isaac Delusion’ will perform on April 19, 9 pm at Opus, Palace Road. ‘Isaac Delusion’ makes dreamy ballads on vague landscapes, indefinable vastness and time. Their brilliant mix of pop, electronic, hip-hop loops, folk and funk bass is highly addictive. For details, call 9844030198.

Tagore’s poems
‘Where is the Light?’ A concert on Tagore’s poems will be presented by Irudaya Niketan Trust on April 11, 8 pm at Alliance Francaise. This concert will be performed by a singer and three other musicians from Kalakshetra, Chennai and will be illustrated with paintings of Indian and French artists. For details, call 9626051273.

Classical songs
As part of the ‘Sri Ramanavami Music Programme’, a Carnatic classical music recital by Seetha Satynarayana and team will be held on April 15, 6.30 pm. She will be accompanied by MS Govindaswamy on the violin and MA Krishnamurthy on the mridangam. The venue is Sri Rama Kalyanamandira, 3rd Cross, Srirampuram. 

Carnatic strains
Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be presenting a Carnatic music recital by Vivek Sadashivam on April 12, 6.30 pm at Yavanika, State Youth Centre, Nrupathunga Road.

Pure delight 
Sri Rama Mandira will present a Carnatic vocal concert by Amrutha Venkatesh on April 16, 6.30 pm. She will be accompanied by Anand Vishwanathan on violin and BC Manjunath on mridangam. The venue is Sri Rama Mandira, East Park Road, 9th Cross, Malleswaram.
 ‘Where There’s a...’
Top Cast is staging Mahesh Dattani’s play ‘Where There’s a Will’ at Ranga Shankara till April 14 at 7.30 pm. ‘Where There’s a Will’ is one of the earliest plays written by Mahesh Dattani. 
     There is a 50 per cent discount for college students who come to the venue along with valid ID cards on April 11.

Irish films
NGMA Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland, is organising the ‘Irish Film Festival of India’ at the NGMA Auditorium, Palace Road on April 11, 3 pm and 5 pm. Entry is free. 

‘Vastra’
Purvi Patel will present her collection Vastra at Vermilion House 3,/12, Cleveland Road Cross, Fraser town, on April 15 and 16, 10.30 am to 6 pm. Vastra is an attempt to revive the versatile and beautiful tribal and folk embroideries of rural Gujarat on various attires such as saris, cholis, salwars and odhinis. 

Documentary film
The screening of the documentary film ‘When Shankar Nag Comes Asking’ by Sushma Veerappa will be held on April 19, 6.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre auditorium, Teri Complex, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur II Stage.

Rehearsed reading
Riad Mahmood Education and Arts Foundation is holding theatre-making programme for writers and directors at the Indian Ensemble Playwright’s Centre. On April 19, ‘Rehearsed Reading’ will be held. The venue is Yours Truly Theatre, No. 1, 17 E Cross, CMH Main Road, Indiranagar. Entry is free.

‘Rongali Bihu’
Assamese Association of Karnataka will celebrate Rongali Bihu and Ugadi on April 14, 2 pm at Christ The King Public School Ground, Malleswaram. On the occasion, Assamese artists Uddipan Sarmah and Abrar will treat the audience to soulful music. Bihu folk dance performance by various artistes will set the stage for a cultural, fun and entertaining evening.

Audition
Cosmos Group will hold live auditions for students on April 14 to go on a musical journey with music director Praveen D Rao. Auditions will be held for high school students from 10 am to 1 pm and for college students from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Violin solo 
Bhoomija presents a Carnatic violin solo by Ambi Subramaniam on April 12, 
8 pm at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield. The second concert will be at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, on April 13, at 7 pm. Ambi Subramaniam will be accompanied by V V Ramana Murthy on the mridangam, T Radhakrishnan on the ghatam and G Sathya Sai on the morsing. Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira is organising a workshop by Prince Rama Varma at Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, 9th Main Road, Banashankari 2nd Stage, on May 4 and 5 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. He will be teaching compositions of Maharaja Swati Thirunal to commemorate the bi-centenary of the composer. For details, call 9886923321.
Early works
To commemorate Yusuf Arakkal being awarded the ‘Raja Ravi Varma Award’, a special show that will feature the early works of Yusuf Arakkal will be on show till April 15 at Galerie Sara Arakkal, ITPLRoad.

‘Quiet Reflections’
A group exhibition, titled ‘Quiet Reflections’, will be held till April 13 at Crimson, The Hatworks Boulevard, 32 Cunningham Road. Some of the participating artists are Manoj Kachangal, Murukeson KC, Prakash Ghadge and Vimal Chand.

Exhibition
Tasveer, in association with The Japan Foundation and Luxure Louis Phillippe, is presenting an 
exhibition of contemporary photographs from Japan called ‘Hikari: Contemporary Photography from Japan’, from April 20 to May 10, 
10 am to 6 pm at Sua House, 26/1 Kasturba Cross Road. 
   To mark the opening of 
the event, exhibiting photographers Shiho Kito and 
Tokihiro Sato will give a 
talk about their work at the British Library on April 19, 6.30 pm.

‘Elements’ 
‘Elements’, an exhibition of painting, sculpture and sound by Avijit Dutta, Kazi Nasir, Ravi Shah, CF John and Madhuri Rao will be on display at Kynkyny Art, 104 Embassy Square, 148 Infantry Road till April 13. It is conceptualised by Lina Vincent Sunish. 

‘Infinity of Hope’
Nivriti is presenting ‘Infinity of Hope’, a solo exhibition of charcoal art, by Jayant Hubli till April 18 at 72, Vishweshwaraya Layout, near Sir MVIT Engineering College, Nellakunte, Bettahalasur, Bangalore International Airport Road.
‘Five Projects’ 
An exhibition called ‘Five Projects’ will be on display at Galleryske, 2 Berlie Street, Langford Town till April 11. The artists are Shivani Bhalla, Tara Kelton, Bharathesh D Yadav, Sujil S and Udaya Vir Singh. 

Group show
A group show will held at Renaissance Gallerie till April 13. Paintings by Buwa Shete, Omal Paul, Vrindavan Solanki and Yeshwant Shirwadkar will be on display.

‘France Heritage’
National
Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), in association with Embassy of France, Institut Francais, and the Alliance Francaise, are presenting ‘France Heritage’, an architecture, photography and heritage exhibition at NGMA, Palace Road from April 19 to 28. This is a photographic voyage of French heritage in India with Anay Mann, Gigi Scaria, Rishi Singhal, Serena Chopra, Isabel Saij along with Jean-Pierre Dubois with special inputs by Aishwarya Tipnis, a conservation architect. 

‘Zikr’
Zikr (Remembrance), an art exhibition by Uma Gautam will be held till April 13, from 11 am to 7 pm, at Time and Space Art Gallery.

‘Give me...’
‘Give me the thumb of your right hand’, an exhibition of works by Shanti Prakash Nandesh, will be on display at Gallery Sumukha, 24/7 BTS Depot Road, Wilson Garden till April 20, from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm.
