Nrityagram is conducting a residential culture camp for
youngsters till April 28. It will have dance, theatre, yoga, body
conditioning, Kalaripayattu, nature walks, bird watching etc modelled on
the guru-shishya parampara.
It will be conducted by Bijayini Satpathy, a performer and teacher at Nrityagram and Atul Kumar. Bijayini, trained in Odissi, has been a resident student and teacher at Nrityagram for the last 20 years. Atul Kumar is an actor, stage director and the artistic director of The Company Theatre, Mumbai. He is trained in kathakali and kalaripayattu and in visual theatre with Philip Genty in France. Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), a national education institution, is organising a three-day film festival of non-fiction films from April 26 to 28 at IIHS Bangalore City Campus, 197/36, 2nd Main, Sadashivanagar. National Gallery of Modern Art is presenting an exhibition on Indian printmaking, titled ‘Between the Lines: Identity, Place and Power’ at the NGMA auditorium, Palace Road from April 27 to May 28. The pieces of art have been selected from the ‘Waswo Collection’ of Indian printmaking. This is curated by Lina Vincent Sunish.
There will also be several parallel outreach programmes such as talks, curators’ walk, film screening, gallery walk and workshops on print techniques.

Star Beam is presenting a collection of photo exhibits from April 26 to 28, 10 am to 7 pm, at the atrium at Alliance Francaise.
The exhibits comprises nebullas, planets, galaxies and cosmic bodies many light years away, obtained using techniques of astro-photography, through an 18-inch reflector telescope.
This shall be paralleled by sci-fi video art and a media art installation. The artists — Aaron Joseph, Maitreya Mer, Mayank Bhutoria, Zoheb Qazi — are from the Srishti School of Art Design and Technology. The director and curator is Sharath Chandra Ram.

Counter Culture is presenting a concert by ‘Overdrive Trio’, a three-member blues rock band from Mumbai on April 27, 9 pm. The band plays music ranging from old school blues to a more modern sound as well as some hard-hitting renditions of some blues/rock anthems.
The band comprises Sunny D’souza on vocals and guitar, Vaibhav Wavikar on drums and Vibhas Patil on bass. Counter Culture will also host ‘The Chronic Blues Circus’ on the same night.
The band is best known for its powerful vocals combined with their unique arrangements. The band comprises Miriam John on vocals, harp and guitar, Owen on bass, Sudhakar on drums, Mukut on keys and vocals and Peter Isaac on vocals, guitar, harp and saxophone.

BFlat is presenting a concert by ‘Drift’, a contemporary jazz band from New Delhi, on April 26, 8.30 pm.
