Art

Solo show


Sublime Art Gallery is presenting ‘Soulink-Celebrating Life’, a solo art exhibition by Swati Pasari, from June 14 to 29, 11 am to 6 pm, at Sublime Art Gallery, UB City. On display will be 26 artworks and five sculptures.

Bold strokes

Renaissance Gallerie is presenting a solo exhibition of Moly TY from June 13 to 16, 11 am to 7 pm at No. 104, West Minster, 13, Cunningham Road.

Moly studied commercial arts course from Acharya Chithrakala Bhavan from renowned artist L Shivalingappa.

‘Black and...’

Magnitude Gallery is presenting an exhibition called ‘Black and White’ till June 30 at the Gallery, No. 140/13, 27th Cross, 3rd Block, Jayanagar.

 ‘Black and White’ is a collection that depicts faces, figures, imagination and abstract pieces.


Abstract images

Artist Shakal Star is showcasing her abstract art work at Inorbit Mall, EPIP Area, Whitefield till June 23, 11 am to 9 pm. The artist’s work emerges from the belief that with a little sense of responsibility and creativity, one can create art work that can be appreciated and absorbed.

‘Rozhano’

Rozhano Group is presenting an exhibition, Rozhano of sculptures, painting, illustration, photography and carpet designing from June 20 to 24, 11 am to 7 pm at Atrium, Alliance Francaise.

The group of artists comprises Majid Barouei, Armin  Azarnewshe, Somaaye Keighobadi, Marjan Pirata, Masoume Zahedi, Fateme Taghavi and Mahdokht Safavi. The aim is to introduce Iranian art and culture to people in the City.

The colours they predominantly use include gold, light brown, green, cream and Persian blue. Their work requires natural material like wood and stone. They often combine Iranian and Indian styles of work.

Rock on

Phoenix MarketCity is presenting a concert by the music band ‘Girish and The Chronicles’ on June 15, 22 and 29, 6 pm onwards at The Courtyard, Phoenix MarketCity Mall, Mahadevapura, Whitefield Road. The concert is a tribute to rock ‘n’ roll music.

‘All the...’

Bflat is presenting a concert by ‘All The Fat Children’ on June 14, 8 pm onwards at Bflat, 100-ft Road, Indiranagar. The band will perform originals and covers along with guest artistes.

Vocal delight

There will be a vocal recital by Priyanka C Prakash on June 14, 6 pm at Bangalore Gayana Samaja.

She will be accompanied by MP Aditya on violin, Sunil Subramanya on mridangam and Amrith Kumar on morsing.

Veena strains

Keshav Samskrithi Sabha is organising a veena recital by RA Dakshina Murthy on June 22, 6 pm at Samskrithi Bhavan, No. 556, 11th Main Road, ISRO Layout. He will be accompanied by Nagaraj GS on the mridangam and Krishnaprasad NS on the ghatam.

‘Bhakti Sangeetha’

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation are presenting a Bhakti Sangeetha by Keerti Kumar Badseshi on June 13, 6 pm at The Indian Institute of World Culture, No. 6, BP Wadia Road, Basavanagudi.

‘Love & Peace’

Shrutiyaan is organising an Indian Classical music concert, ‘Love & Peace’ on June 14, 6. 30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. The show will feature an art exhibition by Sandhya K Sirsi, sand art by Hari Kirishna and percussion ensemble by Pranshu ChaturLal. The grand finale will have a jugalbandi by Indian playback singer and Sufi singer Roop Kumar Rathod, Ajay Pohankar and Abhijit Pohankar. For details, call 8095000038.

Concert series

Suswaralaya College of Music in association with Vijaya College of Music is presenting Lakshmanashastry Memorial Programme on June 16, 10 am at No. 53, 8th B Main, 4th Block Jayanagar. There will be a grand vocal concert  by Dr K Vageesh. He will be accompanied by HK Venkataram on the violin and Anoor R Ananthakrishna Sharma on mridangam. There will be another concert by Shruthi Anand Jaidev and party on June 23, 11.30 am at ISKCON, Hare Krishna Hill, Chord Road. Metal battle

Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is organising ‘Bangalore Open Air’ to select the ‘Best Indian Metal Band’ at the ‘Wacken Open Air Metal Battle’ on July 6 at Jayamahal Palace Hotel. The winner, after-heated preliminary rounds in several cities, will bask in glory of the ‘Jeff Hanneman Stage Bangalore Open Air’ in Bangalore. ‘Sodom’, the legendary German thrash metal trio, will also perform on July 6. Registrations for the ‘W:O:A (Wacken Open Air) Metal Battle’, which is a part of ‘Bangalore Open Air’ is being called by ‘Infinite Dreams’. There is no registration fee. DRAMA

Play

Dramanon is presenting, ‘SIC_ a W.I.P’’ on June 16, 4 pm and 7.30 pm at Alliance. The play, that is directed by Sharanya Ramprakash, takes place in the doorways and shared hallways of three neighbouring apartments. The story revolves around Theo –– the amusement park music composer, Babette –– the ever-broke writer and Frank –– the queer, aspiring auctioneer. ‘Rabdi’

Ranga Vartula theatre team is staging a comedy production, Rabdi, a Kannada play on June 13, 7.15 pm at  KH Kalasoudha, Ramanjaneya Gudda, Hanumanthnagar. The play is an adaptation Naushil Mehta’s Hindi short play.

It is written by Hemalatha Lokesh and Nithish S and directed by Nithish S.
The play revolves around Saavantri and her mentally-retarded child. Her dreams of a better future for her child remain unfulfilled, yet Saavantri does not lose hope. She offers to become a surrogate mother for an IT couple in return for money to enrol her child to a special school.

The cast includes Deepa, Kaavya Sha, Nithish S, Deepti Srinath, Anirudh Vedanthi, Prakruthi and Vijay Kumar. For details, call 9986828680.

‘Hands On...’

Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is presenting an exhibition titled ‘Hands On Maths’ curated by the Mathematikum, Germany, the first interactive mathematics museum in the world, till June 15, 10 am to 5 pm, at Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar. It is being presented in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. The exhibition is closed on Sunday. ‘Hands On Maths’ presents a new approach towards mathematics.

‘The General’

Alliance Francaise in association with The Embassy of France in India, Institut Francais and The Paul Bangalore is presenting, ‘The General’ by Radiomentale on June 20, 7.30 pm at The Paul, No. 139/28, 3rd Main Road, off Intermediate Ring Road, Domlur Layout. The popular DJ and sound-artiste Jean-Yves Leloup from France will perform to the silent film ‘The General’ by Buster Keaton. This film is an imaginative masterpiece of ‘dead pan, stone-face’ Buster Keaton comedy, generally regarded as one of the greatest of all silent comedies and undoubtedly the best train film ever made. Handicraft sale

An exhibition of handicraft titled, Sampoorn Sante will be held from June 14 to 23, 10 am to 8 pm at Chitrakala Parishat. The exhibition will showcase products made by artisans from across the country such as Madhubani paintings, terracotta jewellery, handicraft made from wood, hand-painted saris and wall hangings.

Dance


Celebrations Alliance Française in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Suchitra Film Society and The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is presenting ‘Centenary of Indian Cinema – A progra­mme of Music and Dance’ on June 21, 6.30 pm at Alliance.

The programme will begin with a screening of song and dance sequences chosen from various Indian films.

These scenes form an integral component of Indian cinema and are inspired quite often by Indian classical dance forms.

The International Arts and Cultural Foundation will also present the dance performances which will feature the following dance schools: Articulate, Chithkala School of Dance, Natyantharanga, Monisha Arts, Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance and Vaishnavi Natyashala.
