POT POURRI

Painting

The ladies’ wing of Bengalee Association is organising a painting competition on June 30 at the Bengalee Association, Tagore Cultural Centre, 1/A, Assaye Road, Ulsoor.
The students of nursery to class VIII can participate in this competition. Drawing sheets will be provided to the participants. Participants need to bring in other painting materials. The registration is on at the spot from 9 am to 10 am.

‘Chitrahaar’


The Majolly Music Trust is offering a music theatre programme at its Whitefield branch for children from five to 15 with focus on singing, acting, dancing, script-writing and song-writing for a production. For details, mail to majollymusictrust­@gmail.com

Kids’ marathon

The Shankara Rotary Children’s Library is organising a marathon for children in the age group of three to 15 on June 30, 8.30 am.

The marathon track will run for 1.5 km, starting from Lalbagh, and along the Vanivalas Road. Various music exhibitions and art competitions are also being organised for the young lot.

Book release

A book titled ‘Quality and Reliability Engineering: Recent Trends and Future Directions’, which contains a collection of selected papers from the International Conference on Quality and Reliability Engineering, will be released on June 28 at 2 pm at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, Indian Statistical Institute, 8th Mile, Mysore Road.
A panel discussion on ‘Quality: The Top Management Perspective’ will also be held at the function.

The International Music and Arts Society and NCPA, Mumbai will present ‘French Trio Hng’, a western classical chamber music ensemble, on June 28, 7.15 pm at Alliance Francaise.

‘Harmonium Habba’


Bijapure Harmonium Foundation is presenting the 7th Harmonium Habba on June 30, from 9.30 am  at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

There will be a Carnatic harmonium solo recital by C Ramdas, Hindustani vocal recital by Bharati Vaishampayan and Hindustani harmonium solo recital by Vasant Kanakapur,Dharwad among other performances.

‘Barkha Ritu’

As part of Banyan Tree’s Barkha Ritu or the monsoon festival, Rahul Sharma (santoor), Shubankar Banerjee (tabla) and T M Krishna (vocals) will present a recital on June 29, 6.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. ‘Beware the...’

Earthian and Bangalore Little Theatre (BLT) will present the play ‘Beware the Man Eating Chicken’ on June 28, 1 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.

For children

The ‘AHA! International Theatre for Children Fest ‘13’ will be held from July 1 to 13 at Ranga Shankara. The festival will see international and Indian performances for children.

There will also be story-telling sessions by children who are six years and above and theatre tour for children among other things.

The festival will open with ‘Mimi Makes Chamomile Tea for Brumm’, produced by Figurentheater, Switzerland.

 The festival will also stage ‘Small World’ by Circular Theatre, Portugal and ‘Look’ by Imaginary Theatre from Australia.

Stand-up act

Sculptures speak

‘Homelands’

‘Homelands - A 21st Century Story of Home, Away, And All the Places in Between’, a contemporary art exhibition by Suki Dhanda, will he held from July 6 to August 14 at NGMA, Palace Road. It is curated by Latika Gupta.

Solo expression

Sublime Art Gallery is presenting ‘Soulink-Celebrating Life’, a solo art exhibition by Swati Pasari, till June 29, 11 am to 6 pm, at Sublime Art Gallery, UB City. There will be 26 artworks and five sculptures on display. The collection of works in this series is centered around a common theme of ‘Celebration’.

Acrylic style

‘Palette’, a week-long solo show of acrylics on canvas by Sunil Chandra Pal, is on till June 28 at Gallery G, The Taj West End.

The artists’ works on acrylic on canvas captures a grand narrative of Kolkata on one level and of the human condition on another.

‘Ennea’


An art show called ‘Ennea’ by Bhagya Ajaikumar is on at Swasti Contemporary Gallery, HCG Towers, Sampangiramnagar till July 12. It showcases nine different art forms like drawing, painting, print-making, photography, collage, sculpture, video, writing and music.

A group show will be held from June 25 to 29 at Renaissance Gallerie. Paintings by Abhishek Shrivastava, Arpita Dasgupta, Avantika Mathur and Mohammad Samir will be on display.

Performance

Aparna Mahabaleshwara, a student of MR Krishnamurthy will perform a bharatanatyam dance recital at Yavanika, Nrupathunga Road on June 28, 6.30 pm.

‘Rangapravesham’

 Mayuri, a student of Poorna Prajna Education Centre, Indiranagar, will perform her bharatanatyam rangapravesham on June 29, 6 pm at ADA Rangamandira.

Bharatanatyam

Ananya is holding the bharatanatyam arangetram of Divya Ramesh on June 29, 6 pm at Seva Sadan, 4th Main, West Park Road, Malleswaram.

Yakshagana

Yakshasinchana is celebrating its fourth anniversary celebrations on June 30, 3.30 pm at ADA Rangamandira. Two rare yakshagana prasangas — Tharmadhwaja Kalaga by Ratnapura Shree Rama and Bhishmotpatti will be presented. Shree Krishnayaji Idagunji, the chande artiste, will be honoured on the occasion.

‘Prakruthi’

Prakruthi, a bharatanatyam recital by Aranya Narain, a disciple of MR Krishna Murthy, will be held on June 28, 6.30 pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road.
