DRAMA
On stage

The play ‘Common People’ by Apoorva Kale will be staged on December 19 and 20 at 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara. It is directed by Akarsh Khurana. The cast includes Abir Abrar, Aseem Hattangady, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Chaitnya Sharma. It is presented by Akvarious Productions.

Funny take

Evam is celebrating its 10th year by paying a tribute to the 100 years of Indian cinema. Bollywood Kee Maa, a comical tribute to Indian cinema, will be staged on January 4, 4 pm and 8 pm at Alliance Francaise. Through this play, they bring out the many facets of Bollywood movies while five actors bring twists to evergreen
Bollywood tales with a hilarious take on the clichés used over the years. The play is directed by Gavin Robertson from the UK. Evam is also staging its new standup tamasha called ‘Donkey Dies, Father Cries’ at Alliance Francaise on January 3, 8 pm. It stars S Aravind, Naveen Richard, Karthik Kumar and Bala Kumaran. Fine act

‘Some Times’, a play written by Adhir Bhat and Bobby Nagra, will be held on December 21 (7.30 pm) and 22 (3.30 pm and 7.30 pm) at Ranga Shankara. It is directed by Adhaar Khurana. The cast includes Karan Pandit, Sarang Sathaye, Chaitnya Sharma and Kashin
Shetty.

‘Between the...’ 

India Foundation for the Arts is presenting a play titled ‘Between the Lines’ on December 19, 7.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. The play features Nandita Das and Subodh Maskara in the lead roles. It is directed by Nandita Das and produced by Chhoti Production Company. The play is set in contemporary India, where educated and affluent couples are caught between modernity and tradition.

‘Nartana...’

The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is presenting Nartana Avartana,  a global Indian classical dance by Lakshmi Khanna and Ajith Bhaskaran Dass, in association with the ICCR, at Bharatiya Vidya

Bharatanatyam

Chitra Arvind, artistic director of Rhythmotion, is performing a bharatanatyam recital on December 21,
6.30 pm at ADA Ranga Mandira, as part of the Rasa Sanje, organised by Venkatesha Natyamandira.

‘Mohininrityathi’

ICPA Bangalore is organising a mohiniyattam festival called Mohininrityathi and Lasyatarangini’s Samavesh 3, an interactive seminar on mohiniyattam, on December 22, 23 and 24 at Nayana Auditorium, JC Road.

‘Samaaroha’

Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance is presenting its annual programme Samaaroha on December 20, 7 pm at ADA Rangamandira.

‘Fusion Dreams’

‘Fusion Dreams’ by classical and world fusion violinist (UK) Jyotsna Srikanth, will be held on December 22, 8.30 pm at B Flat, Indiranagar. Jyotsna Srikanth will perform along with an accomplished jazz trumpet player from the UK and Bangalore musicians Shadrach Solomon on the keyboards and Karthik Mani on drums

‘Ruhaniyat’

Banyan Tree will present Ruhaniyat, the ‘13th All India Sufi and Mystic Music Festival’, on December 21, 6.30 pm at Jayamahal Palace Hotel. The highlight for this year’s edition is the first ever Indo-Turkish production titled ‘Rumi-Emre meet Khusrau-Kabir’. Two learned scholar-composers, Madangopal Singh and his Chaar Yar from India, and Latif Bolat from Turkey will come together for the production. Siddhi Goma (Africa) will present a performance with Baithi dhamal and Mystic drums. Kachra Khan and group (Rajasthan) will render Sufi kalam and mystic songs. There will be a theyyam performance by Ajeesh V and group (Kerala). Sufi qawwali will also be rendered by Chand Nizami and group. For tickets, call 8792148861. ‘There Can’t...’

On December 21, 5.30 pm the William Joseph International Academy for Performing Arts presents ‘There Can't be a Christmas Without Music’ at William Joseph International Academy for Performing Arts 687, 6A Cross, 3 Block, Behind Koramangala BDA Complex. The evening would feature the ‘William Joseph Chamber and Chorale’ under the direction of Ashley Williams. Entry is free.

She will be accompanied by TS Krishnamoorthy (violin), MR Sainath (mridangam), Dayananda Mohite and Bhagyalakshmi M Krishna (morsing).

Group show


A group show of paintings by Dinesh Chendal, Sneha Changroth and SR Vales will be held till December 21 at Renaissance Gallerie.

An exhibition of recent works by Prabhavathi Meppayil will be held at Gall­erskye, 2 Berlie Street, Langford Town till February 8.

‘Remembered...’

‘From organic....’

NGMA, in collaboration with the Balassi Institute - Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre, is holding the exhibition titled ‘From organic forms to light heart - Selection from the contemporary Hungarian art’ at NGMA Bengaluru. The exhibition will be on till January 12.

‘Abstract Wonders’
