ART

‘Remembered...’

 Gallery Sumukha is presenting ‘Remembered Abstractions’, a solo show of photographs by Ravikumar Kashi, till December 21, from 10.30 am to 6 pm. The venue is No. 24/10, BTS Depot Road, Wilson Garden.

‘Of Masters...’
 On the occasion of its fourth anniversary, Galerie De’Arts is holding ‘Of Masters and Heroes’, a three-day art camp curated by Vidya Gnana Gouresan, art curator, Singapore from December 6 to 8 (from 11 am to 7 pm). The artists will be creating two canvases of a theme of their choice at the gallery premises.  The participating artists are A Viswam, NS Manoharan, M Jayakumar, C Dakshinamurthy and P Gnana. The venue is Galerie De’Arts, 11th Floor, Barton Centre, 84 MG Road. The show will be on view from December 9 to 30.

Striking shots

A five-day rare exhibition of prolific photographs, titled Pratima, featuring prominent Indian personalities by KG Somashekar will be held from December 6 to 10 at the ESV Hall, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, 43, Race Course Road.

‘Mandala’
 Mandala, an exhibition by Gayatri Shantaram, will be held till December 10 at Alliance Francaise. Mandala is a geometric figure that depicts the universe according to ancient scriptures.

‘The World...’
 National Gallery of Modern Art, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and Archaeological Survey of India, is hosting an exhibition ‘The World of Rock Art’ at NGMA, Manikyavelu Mansion, 49 Palace Road till January 3, from 10 am to 5 pm.  

DRAMA

‘Between the...’ 
 India Foundation for the Arts is presenting a play titled ‘Between the Lines’ on December 19, 7.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. The play features Nandita Das and Subodh Maskara in the lead roles.  It is directed by Nandita Das and produced by Chhoti Production Company. The play is set in contemporary India, where educated and affluent couples are caught between modernity and tradition. For details, log on to www.indianstage.in

Paying tribute
 Yours Truly Theatre is performing an interactive theatre performance as a tribute to the fans of Sachin on December 8, 6 pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road, Corporation Circle. This is going to be an interactive theatre performance where the audience will be invited to share their ‘Sachin Moments’. This will be performed on stage impromptu by the actors. Love story
 Soho Theatre and Nobokov are presenting a play called ‘Blink’ by Phil Porter till December 8 at Jagriti, Varthur Road. The show is at 8 pm everyday except on Sunday, when the shows are at 3 pm and 6.30 pm. For details log on to www.jagrititheatre.com

Pagdi
Dramanon is staging an English play titled Pagdi at Ranga Shankara on December 5 and 6 at 7.30 pm.

‘Sunburn Arena’

Carnatic strains

 Sri Mookambika Taalavadya Sangeetha Kala Shale and Uttara Rajajinagara Brahamana Sabha will present a classical Carnatic vocal music programme on December 14, 6 pm at Baala Mohana Vidya Mandira, Rajajinagar.

‘Samagama’  Krishna Kala Kendra
is presenting Samagama, an orchestra of film songs based on classical music on December 7, 6 pm onwards at Sri Gangadharaiah Mantapa, Playground, Maruti Layout, Vasantapura.

In concert

 International Music and Arts Society and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore, in cooperation with the Indo-German Cultural Society, are organising a German, French and Spanish classical music concert by The ‘Karlsruher Konzert Duo’ on December 5, 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise.

It will feature Reinhard Armleder on the cello and Dagmar Hartmann on the piano. They have performed in 40 countries all over the world. Entry is free.

 DANCE

‘Santhulan’
Santhulan, a dance production by Attakkalari, will be staged at the Alliance Francaise on December 7, 5 pm and 7.30 pm.

This production is primarily aimed at bringing together community dancers and professional dancers from different backgrounds and enabling them to create a work unique to their styles. The show at 5 pm will include performances by children.

The show at 7.30 pm features contemporary dance performances by other community students ending with a grand finale by the members of Attakkalari’s internationally reputed repertory company.  

Bharatanatyam
 A bharatanatyam recital by Sindhuja Sudharshan will be held on December 5, 6 pm at The Indian Institute of World Culture, No. 6, BP Wadia Road, Basavanagudi.

‘Sai National...’
 Sai Arts International is presenting ‘Sai National Dance Festival’ at Seva Sadan, Malleswaram on December 6, 7 and 8, from 5.30 pm. Swapna Rajendrakumar will perform on December 6, 5.30 pm. The other artistes performing on December 6 are Vaishnavi Parthasarathy, Katyayani Thota, Ashita B, Tushar Bhat and Pooja Thushar. On December 7, the artistes are ‘Guru’ Bhanumathi, Dhiksha Kishore, Prachi Hota, Harini Neelakantan and Richa Srivastava. Sukruti TA, Sanchita Lahoti, Apeksha N Mundargi, Shweta Venkatesh, Rukmini Vijayakumar and Manasa Joshi will perform on December 8.

‘Rangapravesha’
 The bharatanatyam rangapravesha of Tarika Kannan and Nidhusha Kannan will be held on December 8, 6 pm at JSS Auditorium, 1st Main, 8th Block, 38th Cross, Jayanagar, Bangalore.

Many compositions

 A dance programme called Padams and Javalis will be held on December 5, 6 pm at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, West Park Road, Malleswaram.

The dancers are Poornima Ashok, Sathyanarayana Raju, Soundarya Srivatsa, Trupti Bhupen and Surya N Rao.

POT POURRI

Fun galore
 Klay Prep Schools is conducting ‘Klay Christmas Karnival’ on December 7 at Inner Circle Park Ground, in front of CSI Church, near Whitefield Forum Mall and Fab India. It will have thrilling games, breathtaking children’s performances, food stalls, non-stop foot-tapping music with live band playing the rock and roll music of the 70s’ and unlimited fun.

Laugh riot
Krafting Success, in association with Mysore Ladies Circle9, is presenting Kapil Sharma live on December 7, 7 pm at Jayamahal Palace. Tickets for the show are available on www.bookmyshow.com

‘About Ram’
 ‘About Ram’, a puppet performance, will be held at Ranga Shankara on December 13, 11 am (only for children) and at 7.30 pm. On December 14 and 15, it will be held at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm. This adaptation looks at Ram as a human being and not as God. The show is performed by Avinash Yadav, Pawan Waghmare and Mohammad Shameem and directed by Anurupa Roy.

Unique programme
The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka (AWAKE) is organising a 12-day entrepreneurship development programme from December 5 to 18. The venue is B-76, KSSIDC Industrial Estate, Rajajinagar.

‘Hands Up...’
 School children from Amnesty International India’s Human Rights Education Programme will create art installations to express their visions of a human rights-friendly-world on December 7 and 8, from 10 am to 7 pm, at MG Road Boulevard, Rangoli Metro Arts Centre. The event called  ‘Hands Up for Change’ will have installations in collaboration with students from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat.

Interesting talk
 A talk on ‘Afghanistan After the US Withdrawal’ by Daveed Gartenstein Ross will be held on December 5, 6.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre, Teri Complex, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur 2nd Stage.

Intricate weave
 An exclusive collection of master weaver Ghanshyam Sarode which includes silk and cotton paithani, uppada, jamdani and khadi and Kanchi saris will be on display at Vermilion House, 78/1, Benson Cross Road, Benson Town on December 5, 6 and 7, from 11 am to 7 pm. For details, call 41225830.

Video installation
 ‘Video Installation: Labour in a Single Shot’, a global project by Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann, will be inaugurated on December 5, 6.30 pm at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan in the presence of Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann. It will be on display from December 6 to 14 (2 pm to 8 pm). Entry is free.

‘Rangbhoomi’
 India Foundation for the Arts is presenting the screening of, Rangbhoomi, a film by Kamal Swaroop on December 7, 5.30 pm at Badami House, George Oakes building, near Town Hall, NR Square. Kamal Swaroop will be present at the screening. Entry is free.
