Organised
every year around the 20th of March, which is the « International
Francophonie day », this event is the annual rendez-vous of the lovers
of French language across the world.
“Tell me ten words … in the French language”: the wealth of French regionalisms
This new edition celebrates the varieties of French. If there is only one French language shared by 274 million speakers worldwide, this one is rich in the diversity of its expressions.
The ten chosen words invite us to explore the French spoken in the different territories of the Francophonie: in France « chafouin » and « fada», in Québec « poudrerie » and « dépanneur », in Belgium « lumerotte » and «dracher », in Switzerland « ristrette » and « vigousse », in Haïti « tap-tap » and in Congo « champagné ». More info on “Dis-moi dix mots” website.
The Alliance Francaise de Bangalore will offer, through range of events such as concerts and film screenings, and contests with exciting prizes to be won, the occasion to discover and share the specificities of French languages from different French-speaking countries through literature, music, games and other surprises.
Through the week, there will be a mural placed in the lobby where students and the public are invited to write/draw/express themselves around the 10 words for 2016.

The Court Jester - Tales Of Tenali Rama
Bangalore Little Theatre presents in
rhythm and dance, wit and craft The Court Jester:
Tales of Tenali Rama.
He`s witty! Hes outrageous! Hes a wisecrack! And absolutely unstoppable!
In fact, he starts off rather early, while still at school, outwitting
none other than Goddess Kali herself. But that is just the beginning!
The real story starts with Tenali Rama cleverly finding his way into the
King`s palace to impress him and impress he does! But does this go down
well with some courtiers who would rather maintain the status quo and
their own privileged positions? Certainly not! To put a stop to this
threat, the courtiers cook up the most ingenious plots to ensure the
clever fellow falls into their trap and out of the Kings favour.
With compassion and humility to match his razor sharp wit and humour, Rama manages to keep 2 steps ahead at all times! This contemporary adaptation lights up the imagination as the actors devise ways of using present day props and costume to recreate the feel of ancient Hampi for you. The cast brings Tenali Rama to life along with all the endearing people he meets on his life`s journey in a performance like you`ve never seen before!
Show starts at 6:00 pm and tickets are priced Rs. 150.
