South Indian epic Silapathikaram (100-300 CE) is understood as a story of Kannagi's anklets, a story of vicious plotting by adulterous courtesans ,who are after Kovalan's wealth, which finally results in the death penalty of Kovalan. Kannagi the protagonist, is revered as an epitome of chastity, and a model for devotion towards her husband in spite of his adultery. In this play ordinary characters who were in the sidelines of the epic, start questioning and make an artistic attempt to transform the epic into their own story. The Music, dance, song and magic of lights transform the stage into epic times...With dialogues that resonate with current times and visuals that keeping moving from the current day to the epic, a theatrical space, that is used to wonder at established values of chastity and womanhood is created. They start to ask questions, we should currently have asked or have forgotten to ask in our times..
