Farming-Permaculture workshop at Navadarshanam: 2 July - 5 July 2015
Navadarshanam is happy
to announce a 4-day workshop on sustainable farming and permaculture
principles from Thursday 2 July to Sunday 5 July 2015. The program is
intended for anyone interested in growing food and is designed to
provide a good understanding of the principles and methods involved in
sustainable farming. The program will have a significant focus on hands
on work backed by theory sessions that will cover the underlying
principles. Topics covered will include permaculture principles, getting
started with a piece of land, low to zero input organic farming
methods, understanding soil, pest management, composting, seed saving,
plant nurseries and vegetable starts, water harvesting, food forests
etc.
Participants
will be required to arrive on Wednesday evening or latest by 8am on
Thursday. The sessions will begin at 9.00am on Thursday and end at 3 pm
on Sunday.
The
fee for the 4-day resident program is Rs 4,000 and includes boarding
and lodging for the duration of the program. If you are interested,

Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam : Dance Drama
A multilingual, multimedia dance feature on Sri Venkateswara, Lord of the Seven Hills, Sri Venkatadri
Vaibhavam, is a production of the Abinaya Natyalaya, Chennai. This
dance feature incorporates a unique blend of religion, music, dance and
visuals to chronicle the greatness of Tirumala-Tirupathi. Sri Venkatadri
Vaibhavam, takes you up the seven holy hills, to the shrine of
Varahaswami, and then for a dip in the Pushkarani, followed by a glimpse
of the stately Golden Gopuram.
This is followed by the
enactment of two incidents that occurred at the holy shrine of Balajee –
the descent of the Akasha Ganga and the story behind the practice of
placing Pacha Karpooram (camphor) on the Lord’s chin.Venkateswara is indeed a sight to behold, and Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam brings before you glimpses of the Abhishekam being performed for the Lord. Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam also showcases important events like the Garuda Seva, Kalyanotsavam and Dolothsavam, bringing before you, the Lord in all his charming glory.
Caste, creed, community differences notwithstanding, the eternal truth us that the Lord is One, He is the supreme Brahman who is reflected in every mortal, and Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam bears testimony to this.
Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam is choreographed entirely by Kalaimamani Krishnakumari Narendran, founder-director of Abinaya Natyalaya, and has been set to music by violin maestro Nadabrahmam Kalaimamani Kunnakudi Dr. R Vaidyanathan.
