The ‘Gudiya Sambhrama-Bangalore Temple Festival 2012′ will be orgainsed in various ancient temples of the state capital from 20 January, 2012- 11 March, 2012.
A unique endeavour by the Heritage Trust, the festivities are being conducted with the sole intent of reviving ancient culture of heritage spaces. What sets apart the cultural festival this time is the emphasis that will be laid on planting of sacred plants and trees. Saplings will be provided to devotees who arrive at the festival scenario, at a nominal rate. The endeavour is being organized in connection with Muzrai Department.
To create an awareness of our culture and her bond with sacred trees a contest of photography and creative writing will be conducted.
250 artists of repute from all over India will converge in these ancient temples bringing performances of dance, music, theatre, puppetry, harikatha and innovative rangoli. Fabulous legends of trees will be related and their ecological importance will be stressed. New trees will be planted and old ones will be venerated.
