Carnatic strains
Music Circle, Chandra Layout, is organising a Carnatic vocal music concert by Ritvik Raja, a |disciple of T M Krishna, on March 4, 6.15 pm at No. 12, Basaveshwara HBCS, 7th Cross, 2nd Main, Chandra Layout (behind Canara Bank, Chandra Layout Branch).
He will be accompanied by Aditi Krishnaprakash on violin and Sri Cheluvaraju on mridangam.
Felicitation
To celebrate 1250th programme of Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira and to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of its founder G Vedanta Iyengar, a special function will be held on March 4, 5 pm. On the occasion, R K Srikantan will be conferred the title Sangeetha Vedanta Dhureena and a cash award will be presented to him. This will be followed by R K Srikantan’s concert with H K Venkataram on violin and Srimushnan V Rajarao and H S Sudhindra on double mridangam. The venue is Bangalore Gayana Samaja Auditorium, K R Road, Basavanagudi.
Vocal delight
A vocal concert by vidwan D V Nagaraj, accompanied on violin by vidushi Sindhu Suchethan, will be held on March 3, 6.15 pm. On mridangam will be vidwan Anooru Dattatreya Sharma, on ‘ghatam’ will be vidwan B R Ravikumar and on morsing will be vidwan Bharadhwaj Sathavalli. Jazz fusion
As part of The Bangalore School of Music’s ‘Odyssey 2012’, a jazz fusion festival, will be held on March 3 and 4 at Alliance Francaise. Peter Dickson will present ‘Flamenco Fusion’ on March 3, 7 pm. On the same day, ‘Traffic Jam’ will be performing. Peter Dickson is Australia’s Oriental-Indo-Latin-Jazz guitar maestro. He has designed his own twin-neck guitars to achieve his unique musical voice. ‘Traffic Jam’, led by pianist Marcus Daniel, will share the evening with Dickson.
On March 4, 7 pm Moon Arra and Manoj George will present ‘4 Strings’. Moon Arra’s music celebrates the human spirit. This well-travelled group of renowned artistes will take the audience on a beautiful spiritual journey with their music. Entry is through donation cards. For details, call 41285017.
