Carnatic Hindustani Jugalbandhi Concert

Good mix
Concerts by Sukanya Ramgopal’s Sthree Thaal Tharang and ‘Swiss Maestros’ will be held on July 13, 7.30 pm at Alliance Francaise. The musicians in the Sthree Thaal Tharang are Sukanya Ramgopal, Yoga Vandana, Soumya Ramachandran, Ranjani Venkatesh, Bhagyalakshmi Krishna. They will perform in the first half. The second half  features the visiting Swiss artistes from the University of Music, Canton of Vaud. The ‘Piano Quintet in A major’ by Dvorak, sonata for cello and piano by Debussy will be on the programme. Entry is by donation cards.


Vocal delight
Carnatic vocalist Sumathi Krishnan, a disciple of R Vedavalli, will perform at Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, 9th Main Road Banashankari, 2nd Stage, on July 14 at 6 pm

Veena duet
Tarangani Arts Foundation, Malleswaram, in association with MES Kalavedi, MES College is presenting a Carnatic classical veena duet by Geetha Ramanand and vidushi Revathi Murthy on July 14, 6.30 pm. The venue is New Conference Hall, MES College, Vidyasagara Prof M P L Sastry Road, 15th Cross, Malleswaram.

Centenary concert
Nadasurabhi Cultural Association is holding the ‘Madurai Mani Iyer Centenary Concert’, a musical programme on July 15, 4.15 pm at the The Indian Heritage Academy Hall, 6th Block, Near Police Station, Koramangala. Sangita Kalanidhi T V Sankaranarayanan will present a vocal recital on the occasion. Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan will offer vocal support. C N Chandrasekhar will be on  violin, Arjun Kumar (mridangam) and Giridhar Udupa (ghatam).

 ‘Jugalbandi’
Webcetera Software Solutions is hosting its fifth annual musical nite. A Jugalbandi of Indian classical music, with Shahid Parvez on the sitar and U Srinivas on the mandolin, accompanied by Yogeesh Samsi and V Praveen.  Jhoolan Yatra’
Maya Rao and the Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography are presenting Jhoolan Yatra on July 14, 5 pm at PESIT Auditorium, PES Institutions, 100ft Ring Road, Banashankari 3rd Stage. The Jhoola concept, associated with the rain, is a metaphoric shower of dance, music, creativity and joy, conceptualised by Maya Rao and created in association with the students, alumni and well-wishers of the Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography, which celebrates its 25th year of existence in Bangalore.

Over 200 performers, including Nirupama and Rajendra (kathak), Natya and ‘Stem Dance Kampni’ (kathak and contemporary), Chitra Venugopal’s group (kathak), Shivanand Hegde (yakshagana), Shubha Dhananjay and daughters (bharatanatyam), Nandini Mehta, ‘Nadam Ensemble’(kathak), Vittal Acharya and Balu (yakshagana), Taandava (bharatanatyam) will be performing.

'Akkamahadevi’
Kalakshithi School Of Fine Arts , Basavanagudi, will presents its grand production — a dance ballet called Akkamahadevi in bharata­natyam style — as a part of the ‘Basava and Akkamahadevi Jayanti Celebrations Programme’, on July 14, 3 pm. It is being organised by Kadali Mahila Vedike. The venue is JSS Auditorium, 1st main road, 8th Block, Jayanagar.
