Interface’
‘Interface 2012 Festival’ will be held from September 28 to 30. The festival kicks off on September 28 at Jagriti Theatre with dancers Michel Casanovas and Keerthi Basavarajaiah performing ‘Wind Dance’.
This will be followed by Holi, a Indo-Israeli dance-theatre performance by musician and composer Abhishek Basu, Israeli choreographer Idan Cohen and dancers Ran Ben Dror and Noa Shiloh. The kuchipudi performance Navarasa, choreographed by Vyjayanti Kashi, will be staged at Jagriti Theatre on September 30.
This would be followed by ‘Game On’, conceived by Annalouise Paul and Theatre of Rhythm and Dance, Australia. Tickets for events on September 28 and 30 are available on www.bookmyshow.com or at Jagriti Theatre. The workshop on September 29 is open to all.

This year, the theme celebrates William Shakespeare. In store at the festival are productions from different corners of the world and two from India.
From Mumbai, there are Atul Kumar’s ‘Twelfth Night’ and Sunil Shanbag’s ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’. And from overseas, the plays include Dhaka Theatre’s ‘The Tempest’ from Bangladesh; and Marjanishvili’s ‘As You Like It’ from Georgia.
The opening ceremony will usher in the festival with a theatrical ensemble that will feature renowned theatre personalities.
There will be a sonnet recitation evening, screenings of two films based on his work, arts appreciation course, solo performances by renowned theatre personalities, a poster-design competition, Shakespeare readings in the parks and more. For details, call 9742478886.

‘SmaraniK’ will stage Sadichha-r Rangbadal, the Bengali translation of Mahesh Dattani’s ‘Where there is a will’, a comedy, on September 29 (3.30 pm and 7 pm) and on September 30 (3.30 pm and 7 pm).

‘Choli Bazaar’
Designer Namrata G is presenting Choli Bazaar with ready-to-wear cholis in the City.
The choli line consists of cholis made of brocade, velvet, chiffon, georgette and silk. The casual wear cholis are crafted in cotton brocades.There are some pieces that are made with a concept of mixed textures and fabrics, which allow one to use the choli with more than one sari. There are designs like the basic fit, low back, halter neck, sleeveless and slim back.
The corset choli can be customised to fit. The exhibition will be held on September 28 and 29 (10.30 am to 7 pm) and new designs will be available on a weekly basis after that. You may call for an appointment with head of design Yogesh Misra to create a well-crafted look.

Sashirekha Parinayam, a kuchipudi dance-drama, will be held on October 2, 6.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. This is being organised by Bangalore Club for Kathakali and the Arts (BCKA) and Sri Rajarajeshwari Kala Niketan. The show, with more than 30 artists from Kuchipudi village, Andhra Pradesh, is produced and presented by Veena Murthy Vijay.
The dance-drama is choreographed by Pashumathi Ramalinga Sastry, associate professor, Central University of Hyderabad, who also plays the role of Sri Krishna.

A ‘Dance Discourse’ series, will be held on September 29, 6.30 pm at Alliance Française. The focus will be on the classical dance form of odissi. Odissi dancers Madhulita Mohapatra, Argha Chatterjee, Vandana Supriya, Meghna Das, Shwetha Krishna and others, will perform the traditional repertoire, starting with the invocatory ‘Mangalacharan’, followed by Battu, Pallavi and Abhinaya, and concluding with Mokshya.
The artistes will also demonstrate and talk on varied techniques and nuances of the form. The evening will conclude with a discussion with panelists Maya Rao, kathak legend; M Surya Prasad, art critic; and Utkal Mohanty, vice-president of Orissa Cultural Association.
