The ‘13th Annual Music Festival’ of ‘Hamsadhwani Creations’ will be held from November 16 to 18 at Seva Sadan, 14th cross, Malleswaram. On November 16, 6 pm Hamsadhwani Puraskara will be presented to vocalist Sangeetakalabhijne Vidushi Seethalakshmi Venkateshan and mridangam player Ganakalabhushana Vidushi M A Krishnamurthy. Among other concerts, there will be those by ‘Malladi Brothers’, M S Sheela, Subhalakshmi Krisnhamurthy and Malavika Ramaswamy.
Fine footwork
The bharatanatyam rangapravesha of Priyanka Pillai, a disciple of Chitra Vinodh, will be held on November 17, 6 pm at Nimhans Convention Centre. Priyanka started learning bharatanatyam at a very young age under the guidance of Jayanthy Thyagarajan and has participated in several competitions at school level.

A piano concert by Raj Bhimani, a pianist from New York, will be held on December 1, 7 pm at the St Mark’s Cathedral,1 MG Road. it is being organised by the ‘Forum for Teachers of Western Classical Music’. For details, call 22215304.
Concert time
Counter Culture is presenting a host of concerts from November 16 to 24 at Counter Culture, 2D2, 4th Cross, Dyavasandra Industrial Area, Whitefield Road. ‘The Chronic Blues Circus’, the blues band will perform on November 16, 8.30 pm.
The band comprises Miriam John on the vocals, harp and guitar; Owen on the bass and guitar; Sudhakar on the drums; Mukut on the vocals and keys and Peter Isaac on vocals, guitar, harps and saxophone.
They are best known for their original music; a natural, clean sound and powerful vocals combined with their unique arrangements.
There will be performances by ‘Cry Freedom feat’, ‘Skrat’ and ‘Frank's Got The Funk’ on November 17, 8.30 pm. The Cry Freedom feat’ is a celebration of the expression of freedom through live music and arts. ‘Skrat’ has played over a 100 gigs, and counting.
‘Frank's Got The Funk’ is a band which treads in various genres, primarily influenced by electronic and progressive rock.

M A Narasimhachar Music Foundation is celebrating its ‘11th Annual Music Festival’ from November 22 to 26 at Gayana Samaj Hall, K R Road.
On November 22, 6 pm T M Krishna will present a vocal concert and on November 23, Suchita will give a musical discourse in Tamil on Purandaradasa Charitram.
On November 24, Malladi Brothers will be presenting a vocal duet. Violin maestro H K Venkatram will be awarded Gaana Vaaridhi on November 25.

The screening of ‘Waste Land’, a documentary on garbage, will be held at Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari on November 18, 11 am. It is directed by Lucy Walker and will have English subtitles. There will also be a panel discussion led by H C Sharatchandra, former chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.

The All India Urdu Manch and The Alliance Française de Bangalore are holding a meeting of writers and poets on November 20, 6.30 pm at the auditorium, Alliance Française.
Girish Karnad will be the guest of honour. The event will bring together well-known literary figures from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. They will delve into the present trends in writing in the sub-continent. Intezaar Hussain (Pakistan) will speak on fiction. Asghar Nadeem Syed (Pakistan) will present a talk on poetry in Pakistan. Nasir Abbas Nayyar (Pakistan) will provide insights on trends in criticism and Khaleel Mamoon, in his lecture, will focus on Urdu literature in India. On this occasion, a poetry collection by Dr Mushtaq Sadaf will also be released.

Tasveer is presenting an exhibition titled ‘Sebastian Cortés: Pondicherry’ till November 30. ‘Pondicherry’ is an extended photo essay, which has as its main focus the photographer’s perception and visual interpretation of the city of Pondicherry.
