Sunshine Boulevard is presenting paintings by Mizoram’s best known artist, Lara.
Lara paints insightful, life-like images of landscapes, rural portraits and village scenes depicting the lives, culture and traditions of the tribes of his region.
The paintings are on display till December 31, 11 am to 8.30 pm at Sunshine Boulevard, 5, 8th Main Road, Koramangala.
‘Dutch Mountains’
In CITE Gallery is presenting, ‘Dutch Mountains’, an exhibition of the works of Mecanoo Architecten till December 29, from 10 am to 7 pm at the Gallery No 422, 1st floor, 9th Main, Banashankari II Stage.
There will also be the screening of the documentary titled ‘Focused Insight’ on the working method of Francine Houben on December 22, 6 pm.
‘Tales Of Infinity’
A solo show of the works of Sachin Jaltare titled ‘Tales Of Infinity’ will be on at Kynkyny Art from December 21 to January 11. ‘Tales of Infinity’ depicts the parallel tracks that define human existence and the mysterious planes where they intersect.
Group show
Renaissance Gallerie is hosting a group show from the December 20 to 26. There will be paintings by Kamal Ghimiray, Richa and Parvathi Bhat from Bangalore and Vaishali Jain from Assam.

Italian film fest
An Italian Film Festival is on at the Jayamahal Palace Hotel till December 21. On December 20, Basta un niente (‘Before you know it’) by Ivar Polidoro will be screened at 2 pm, while Mine Vaganti (‘Loose Cannons’) will be shown at 4 pm. On December 21, Mai Piu Come Prima (‘Never Again Like Before’) will be shown at 12 pm, Scontro di civilita per un ascensore a Piazza Vittorio (‘Clash of civilisation for an elevator in Piazza Vittorio’) at 2 pm and A cavallo della tigre (Jail Break) at 4 pm.
German course
The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is offering a combined weekday evening and weekend German language courses from January 6, 2013 at its centre on Cunningham Road. These courses are designed according to the ‘Common European Framework of Reference for Languages’. These courses will equip professionals with the confidence to travel to Germany without having to think about etiquette blunders. The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is presenting ‘Germany as Country in Special Focus’ during the ‘5th Bengaluru International Film Festival 2012’, under the banner of the ‘Year of Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities’, a collaborative celebration on the occasion of completing 60 years of Indo-German diplomatic relations. It will be held from December 20 to 27 and will have 15 films, master class, presentations and interactions. Entry is as per festival norms. The fifth ‘Bengaluru International Film Festival’ will be held from December 20 to December 27. Films will be screened at Inox, Garuda Mall; Fame Lido; Sulochana, Information Department and Priyadarshini in Badami House. The festival will conclude with a Brazilian film, ‘The Clown’ directed by Selton Mello. Along with film screenings, there will be master classes, round table discussions, seminars and presentations on various topics.

BreakbounceGen is presenting a three-day festival of DJs called ‘The End of World’ on December 21, 22 and 23 at Pebbles. There will be 70 popular DJs at the events including Nikhil Chinappa, Rohit Barker, Ivan, Vachan, and Clement.

In connection with the 25th silver jubilee celebration of Sri Hanumajayanti, a Carnatic classical music recital by Seetha Satynarayana and party will be held on December 26, 6.30 pm. She will be accompanied by M S Govindaswamy on the violin and M A Krishnamurthy on the mridangam. The venue is Sri Varadanjaneyaswamy Temple, 11th Main, near Malleswaram Railway Station.

'The Tiger Comes...’
‘The Tiger Comes to Town’, a collaborative project of the Centre for Public History, Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology and the Archaeological Survey of India to mark the 150th anniversary of the ASI, will be held on December 22 and 23, 7 pm onwards at Bangalore Fort, K R Road, Kalasipalayam. ‘Tiger! Tiger!’ by Late Dina Mehta, a site-specific theatre exploration, will be performed at the Bangalore Fort as a part of the ‘Tiger comes to Town’. For details, call 9980433790.

Taking a global approach
College of Engineering Trivandrum Alumni Association Bangalore (CETAAB) is organising ‘CETA Global Meet’ on December 21, 22 and 23 with the socially relevant theme ‘Sustainable Development’. The venue of the programme is Clarks Exotica, Sadahalli, Devanahalli Road.
The programme is spread over three days and is expected to strengthen the various activities and interactions among the different chapters of the Alumni Association. The events will see a gathering of more than 400 engineers and their families from all over the world. The programme on December 21 will be presided over by D Babu Paul IAS (Retd), noted litterateur and an alumnus of the college.
The programme on December 22 will have eminent scholar and doyen of Kannada literature Prof U R Ananthamurthy as the chief guest. This will be followed by a technical seminar on ‘Sustainable Development’ with eminent speakers from the field. The fun part is some of the oldest alumni of the college, including those from the 1948 batch, will be participating in this event.
The College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET) is one of the oldest technical institutions in the country. The college was founded by Chithira Thirunal
Balaramavarma, the Maharaja of Travancore, on July 3, 1939 as a part of the erstwhile University of Travancore.
