Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is holding its annual music and dance festival from February 8 to 13 at Purandara Bhavan, HAL Second Stage, Indiranagar. The inauguration will be on February 8, 5 pm. Irina Kushhelevich will present a bharatanatyam recital, as part of the Sai Nrityostav, on February 1, 5.30 pm at Seva Sadan, Malleswaram. She is the disciple of Rajyashree Ramesh. The other artistes performing are Sindhuja (kuchipudi), Anwesha Das (bharatanatyam), Manjula Pall (kuchipudi) and Prachi Hota (odissi).

General Chennai and Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, in association with the Bangalore School of Music, are presenting ‘Stirring Voices’, a concert by the Emmy award-winning ‘Chicago Children’s Choir’ on February 2, 6.30 pm at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School Auditorium, Residency Road.
The highlight of the Bangalore concert will be a joint performance by the ‘Chicago Children’s Choir’ and the children of Featherlite Pottery Town Government High School, which forms a part of The Bangalore School

New Age Foundation is holding a classical music programme called Chirantan at Ravindra Kalakshetra on February 2 and 3. It is a tribute to Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur. On February 2, 6 pm, there will be vocal recital by Priyadarshini Kulkarni, Pandit Srinivas Joshi and Pandit Venkatesh Kumar. On February 3, 10 am, Atul Kumar Upadhye and Vinayak Torvi will present vocal recitals. On the same day at 6 pm, vocal recitals will be held by Pandit Shounak Abhisheki and Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar.

‘Ministry of Blues’ will be playing at Hard Rock CafĂ© on January 31, 8.30 pm. The band is known for its unique rock renditions of classic tracks making its music appealing to lovers of rock, rhythm and blues.
‘Nada Namana’
Karnataka College of Music and Percussion, Malleswaram is holding Nada Namana — a tribute to music composers — on February 2 and 3 at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram. The inauguration will be on February 2, 5.30 pm. On February 3, 9 am to 1 pm, there will be recitals by R A Ramamani and T A S Mani. There will also be a musical quiz.
Vocal competition
The Asawari Music Foundation, in collaboration with Majolly Music Trust, will present ‘The Outperformers’, a vocal competition (Western classical, music theatre, pop vocals) for youth from 12 to 16 years of age who are residents of India. Interested participants must have completed a vocal exam from ABRSM/TRINITY/LCM in 2011/2012 and will need to outperform this examination level. There will be a cash prize of Rs 10,000, trophy and a certificate awarded to the winner.

‘Scratch Bandits Crew’, an electronic music concert, as part of Unmaad, will be presented on February 10, 6.45 pm at the Indian Institute of Management. ‘Scratch Bandits Crew’ is another approach to scratch music played by Supa-Jay, Geoffresh and Syr, who love hip-hop. They play with voices, be it soul, hip-hop, funk, and mix these to create surrealist collages that tell stories with holes.

‘Speak out!’
The ‘4th German Teachers Conference 2013’, with about 150 teachers of the German language from schools and universities of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, will be held on February 9 and 10, 9 am to 5 pm at Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan.
This annual event is a meeting point and platform for teachers to scale up learner-centred activities in the language classroom. This year’s conference, titled ‘Speak out!’, offers workshops in phonetics, short films, interactive grammar and creative methods. International guest speakers and insiders from industry will demonstrate through their sessions, how to make German classes exciting and full of fun.
