‘Ananya...’
Ananya Nrithyollasa-14 will be held at Seva Sadan, Malleswaram on September 21, 6 pm. As part of this, ‘Utsaha - The joy of dancing together’ will be presented by Roopasri Vittal and Ramaa Venugopalan.
Utsaha will have rare compositions of Karnataka Vaggeyakaras, presented in the traditional Margam format, conceptualised and choreographed by the two dancers. The accompanying artistes of the evening include DS Srivathsa, Praveen Kumar, VR Chandrashekar Vivek Krishna. This will be followed by a bharatanatyam recital by Shruti N Murthy.
‘Tharang Utsav’
Tharang Utsav 2013, a classical music and dance festival, is happening on September 28 and 29 at ADA Rangamandira.
There will be a flute recital at 4.30 pm by Suryanarayanan Iyer, bharatanatyam by Aparna Vinod at 5.30 pm and bharatanatyam at 6.30 pm by Bhragha Bessel.
There will be a Hindustani vocal recital at 4.30 pm by Rina Basu, odissi at 5.30 pm by Sharmila Mukherjee and bharatanatyam at 6.30 pm by B Bhanumathi and Sheela Chandrashekhar.

G Seshappa and Smt Sundaramma Charitable Trust is presenting a tribute to Muthuswamy
Dikshitar on September 27, 6.30 pm at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja Auditorium, KR Road .
It will feature some of his popular and celebrated kriti. The dancers for the evening’s presentation include Poornima Ashok, Sathyanarayana Raju, Soundarya Srivatsa, Parshwanath Upadhye, Preethi Sundarajan, Mithun Shyam, Anil Iyer and Madhuchandra, Rasika Ensemble (Shivaranjani, Divyaranjini, Bhavani Kulkarni) and Chaturgamini group (Anju Nair, Pruthvi Sharma, Gowri Shankar, Aditi Sadashiva).
The compositions for the male dancers Mithun Shyam, Anil Iyer and Madhuchandra and the Rasika Ensemble are choreographed by Kiran Subramanyam.
The rest of the dancers have choreographed their own numbers. The event is conceptualised by Usha RK.

The Majolly Music Trust is holding the ‘Festival of Strings’ featuring some terrific musicians from India and abroad on September 20, 21 and 22.
On September 20, the festival will feature American classical guitarist Daniel Linden and Santosh Chandran with his own inimitable style of Indo-Flamenco.

‘Children’s Carnatic...’
Bhoomija is presenting ‘Children’s Carnatic Choir’, directed by Bombay Jayashri, on September 19, 7 pm at MLR Convention Centre, Brigade Millenium Campus, JP Nagar. On September 20, 8 pm it will be held at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield. The concept and direction of the choir is by Bombay Jayashri. Eighteen of Bangalore’s children sing in the choir while young musicians from Chennai will accompany them. Pushan Kripalani of Mumbai has done the script and production design. Sound Tree Media, in association with Bflat, is presenting ‘Blitzkrieg - Battle of Bands Preliminaries at Bflat, 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar on September 19. The preliminaries for the Bangalore zone will be held from 6 pm, followed by a live performance by the popular local rock band ‘Solder’ at 8 pm. ‘Solder’ will also be the judges for this contest and will headline the event with their concert once the winners have been chosen. A workshop for filmmakers and professionals — ‘The International Arena on how to work in film with partners and subjects from elsewhere’ — by Dorothee Wenner, will be held on September 24, 2 pm at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. This is being held as part of the ‘Meet-the-Curator’ series. In this workshop, Dorothee Wenner will take a closer look at the nature of international co-operations as a filmmaker. She has experienced the best and worst sides of working as an ‘outsider’ in countries other than her own — some of her earlier films were shot in India, Poland, Nigeria.

WeMove theatre is premiering its whole new play, a political satire called ‘Magadi Days’, on September 22, 7.30 pm at KH Kalasoudha. This play, written and directed by Abhishek Iyengar in Kannada, is a political satire which revolves around the characters inspired from the serial ‘Yes Minister’. The play is based on series of political consequences that arise in Magadi.

Comedian Russell Peters will perform as part of ‘The Russell Peters Notorious World Tour’ at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium on October 31.Known for his brand of observational comedy, Peters also plays out ethnic, social and cultural stereotypes in his comedy routine.
