Bangaloreans to join in the fight against diabetes, Lifestyle, in
association with The Times of India, on Wednesday formally kickstarted
Lifestyle presents 'Beat Diabetes', a diabetes awareness campaign. Now
in its fourth edition, the walkathon has become an important annual
event in the city to raise awareness about diabetes.
Free glucose screening tests will be conducted between November 8 - 15, 2013 across select stores of Lifestyle, Max, Bossini, Auchan, Splash and Melange along with registrations for the Beat Diabetes Walkathon. Online registrations for the walk can be done at www.beatdiabetes.in.
The Beat Diabetes Walkathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Nov 16 at the Kanteerva Stadium at 6.30 a.m.
India has one of the highest numbers of people with diabetes' in the world and the number is growing at an alarming rate. With a belief that creating awareness is crucial for the control of diabetes, Lifestyle's parent company, Dubai-based retail to hospitality conglomerate, Landmark Group adopted the 'Beat Diabetes' initiative in 2009. The first ever Beat Diabetes Walkathon in India was successfully organised by The Times of India, in Bangalore in 2010.
