As part of Theatre Month, IFA is happy to bring to you a presentation by The Freedom Theatre, Palestine for Maathukathe at the IFA office. Members of this community-based theatre and culture centre – Faisal M.M. Abu Alhayjaa, Ahmad HF Al-Rokh and Alan Douglas Wright – will speak about their cultural resistance against the Israeli occupation, the role of theatre and their work in Palestine.
ABOUT THE FREEDOM THEATRE
The Freedom Theatre is a community-based theatre and cultural centre in Palestine. It operates in Jenin Refugee Camp, which is among the most severely affected areas by decades of Israeli occupation and internal conflicts. Jenin camp is largely isolated – culturally, economically and politically. This sense of isolation runs deep within the camp and particularly affects the young generation. Convinced that the arts have a crucial role to play in building a free and healthy society, The Freedom Theatre offers a unique programme of activities in performing arts and multimedia, including acting, psychodrama, playback theatre, filmmaking, photography and creative writing.
Be part of the evening and experience this rare presentation.
