Essence of Life – A Revolution in Dance & Music brings to Bangalore for the second time a dance and music live show on
September 28th, 2013 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
This show will showcase the insights and the unique approach of
Jiddu Krishnamurti through dance and music to a contemporary and
sophisticated global audience. There are performances by renowned dancers in Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Odissi and Kuchipudi dance forms.
Prominent artists from all over the world from established dance
traditions, come together to communicate deeper philosophical issues in a
meaningful manner.
Singers Padmashree Hariharan and Sanjeev Abhyankar have lent their voice to these compositions.
Essence of Life explores deeper existential issues and attempts to
focus on each individual to enable him to understand his own mind. The
dance forms are the representation of the individual’s conflicts,
complex human sufferings and problems. The show uses different dance
forms not just to depict the enormocity of the fundamental human problem
but it also uses the significant aspects of Krishnamurti’s teachings to
find and become aware of one’s own nature and through this awareness,
understand and find solutions to one’s own problems.
Jiddu Krishnamurti, the world-renowned philosopher and Seer of the
20th century has written and spoken extensively about the various
problems of our life like fear, suffering, hatred, violence and death.
Hence, Krishnamurti’s teachings are very relevant to our daily life and
contemporary thought. Whereas the traditional dance forms generally deal
with tales from the ancient epics, stories of gods, saints, mighty
kings and warriors. In these traditional recitals, (Sahitya) the lyrics
of the musical compositions also speak of episodes from the epics and
mythologies which are based on scriptures and ancient classical texts.
