Shubha Mudgal is known to always emphasise that music is for people of
all ages. She’s had a few big tours last year in Kochi, Ahmedabad,
Allahabad and some interesting projects including musical theatre.
Lovers of Hindustani classical music in Bangalore have something to look
forward to in the first weekend of the new year with Mudgal’s live
concert.
Deeply rooted in the traditional forms and yet always trying something
new, her experimentations with music are well known. It is evident that
for her, it is all about the music. While she dips into Khayal and
Thumri often, she is popular for pushing the envelope with her musical
endeavours. In Bangalore, Shubha Mudgal will be accompanied on the tabla
by Aneesh Pradhan, who holds a doctoral degree in History and is a
Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Contemporary Music Studies
at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Sudhir Nayak, a disciple of
veteran Pt. Tulsidas Borkar, will be on the harmonium.
