ART
Group show

A group show will be held till July 15 at Renaissance Gallerie. Paintings by Nijesh Mohan, Prabir Shaw, Rishi Dharia and Vedant Bukalsaria will be on display.

Treasure trove
‘The Last Harvest’, an exhibition of paintings by Rabindranath Tagore and curated by R Siva Kumar, will be on display at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Palace Road till July 14.    The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 5 pm.

The majority of the works comprise haunting heads, romantic figures, and melancholy landscapes.
Among others, there are also dancing figures as well as fantastic and bizarre forms.

Fine strokes
An art show called Ennea by Bhagya Ajaikumar will be on at Swasti Contemporary Gallery, HCG To­wers, Sampangiramnagar till July 12. It showcases nine different art forms like drawing, painting, print-making, photography, collage, sculpture, video, writing and music.

Solo style

A solo exhibition of sculptures by Reghu G will be held till July 13, 10.30 am to 6 pm, at Gallery Sumukha, Shanti Nagar.

Original ideas

A series of abstract original paintings, under the theme ‘Esoteric Expressions’, will be on display till July 31, from 10 am to 8 pm, at Magnitude Gallery, 27th Cross, 13th Main, 3rd Block, Jayanagar. This collection will present non-representational and subtle magic of vibrant colours and media.

‘Homelands...’
‘Homelands - A 21st Century Story of Home, Away, And All the Places in Between’, a contemporary art exhibition by Suki Dhanda, will he held till August 14 at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Palace Road. It is curated by Latika Gupta.

Facets of life

Sublime Galleria at UB City, in association with Deccan Art Gallery, Hyderabad is presenting ‘Soulink’, an art exhibition that showcases a celebration of life as depicted by Swati Pasari. The collection of paintings in this series is centered around the common theme of ‘Celebration’. The exhibition will continue till July 15, from 11 am to 8 pm.

‘Varicolored’


An exhibition called ‘Varicolored’, which is a group show of paintings and sculptures, is on display at Art Corridor, Taj West End, till July 14, from 11.30 am to
8.30 pm.

‘Plot’
‘Plot’, an exhibition by Sreshta Rit Premnath, will be on display at Galleryske, Berlie Street, Langford Town, till August 24.

‘Infinity Divinity’

‘Infinity Divinity’, a week-long show by artist Vinod Banaik, will be held at Gallery-g, Lavelle Road from July 17 to 24, from 11 am to 7 pm.

Creative media

A solo show of illustrations, photographs and installations by Vimal Chandran will be held till July 28 at Thalam, Level 2, 80, Krishna Reddy Colony, Domlur.

The show is a jugalbandi of various creative media including photographs, illustrations, audio and video installations.

MUSIC

Live act
MoonArra, a Carnatic and Hindustani classical band, will perform live at Phoenix MarketCity Courtyard, Whitefield Road, Mahadevapura, on July 13, 6 pm.

The members are Jagadeesh (guitars, oud), Madhuri (vocals), Wilson Kenneth (bass), Prakash Sontakke (Hawaiian slide, vocals) and Kartik Mani (drums, percussion).

Classic rock
‘Girish and The Chronicles’ will present a classic rock concert on July 12, 8.30 pm at BFlat, Indiranagar. The band members are Girish Pradhan (vocals),  Suraz Karki (lead guitars), Yogesh Pradhan (bass guitars) and  Nagen Mongranti (drums).

Carnatic delight
MA Narasimhachar Music Foundation, which conducts Carnatic classical music concerts every month, has organised a violin solo concert by Vidwan Kamalakiran on July 12, 5.45 pm at The Indian Institute of World Culture, B P Wadia Road, Basavanagudi.

He will be accompanied by Vidwan Tumkur B Ravishankar on mridangam and Vidwan BR Ravikumar on ghatam.


Festival feast

A grand music festival will be held on July 13 and 14 at Shruthi Sagara, Near Maha Ganapathi temple, Hoskerehalli.

Paying tribute

Ananya is organising a musical concert to pay tribute to Carnatic classical singer Ranjani Hebbar  on July 13, 6 pm onwards at Ananya Sabhangana, Malleswaram. There will be performances by Amrutha Venkatesh, Priyanka C Prakash, Meghana Moorthy, Pavan, Pavandeep CK, Kee­rthana Bhat and Kruthi Bhat.

In concert
Ranjani Fine Arts will present a concert featuring Vidwan Prasanna Venkatraman (vocal), Vidwan M Rajiv (violin) and Vidwan R Sankaranarayanan (mridangam) on July 13, 5 pm at Sobha Lakeview Clubhouse, off Outer Ring Road, Bellandur.

Vocal strains

A live concert by Sunitha Sarathy, The Agenda will be playing at Hard Rock Café, St Mark’s Road on July 11, 8.30 pm. Sunitha Sarathy is a vocalist and performer and has carved her own melodious niche. She handles both Indian and Western styles with equal aplomb.

Devotional mode
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation is presenting ‘Bhakti Sangeetha’ by Seema S Kabate at The Indian Institute of World Culture, No 6, B P Wadia Road, Basavanagudi on July 11, 6 pm.

DANCE

‘Roopaka...’
Natya Niketa is conducting its 36th anniversary programme, Roopaka Vaibhava, a collection of dance dramas, on July 13, 5.30 pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road. Disciples of choreographer and director Revathi Narasimhan will perform at the show in groups.

‘Nartana Avartana’

International Arts and Cultural Foundation is presenting Nartana Avartana, a global Indian classical dance recital by Gayathri Sriram, director, Shruti Laya Dance School, Singapore and Soundarya Srivathsa, director, Nartana Keertana. This is being held in association with ICCR and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on July 20, 6 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Bharatanatyam
The International Music and Arts Society is presenting a bharatanatyam performance in the Mysore style by Vidwan D Keshava and daughter Sumitra on July 19, 7 pm at the Alliance Francaise. Keshava lives and teaches dance and yoga in Basle, Switzerland. Invitations for the show will be available at the Alliance Francaise Café from July 15.

‘Film History...’

Kannada classes
Kannada Prasaara Parishat, a non-profit-organisation, is holding its next batch of spoken Kannada script reading, writing and higher Kannada classes in separate batches from July 14. Symposium
India Foundation Art is presenting ‘Take on Residencies — a Symposium’ on July 11, 9.45 am to 5.30 pm, at 1 Shanthi Road. Those participating are N Pushpamala, Christine Rogers, Tara Kelton, Krishnaraj Chonat, Nancy Adajani, Jayachandran Palazhy among others. This symposium is an opportunity for artists, curators, organisations hosting residencies, and funders to come together to deliberate the pedagogic possibilities and challenges of residencies.

Documentary
‘Red Ant Dream’, a documentary film by Sanjay Kak, will be screened on July 21, 5.30 pm at Bangalore International Centre, TERI Complex, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur II Stage.

Acting workshop
WeMove Theatre is conducting a two-day acting workshop on July 13 and 14 at ‘We Are Here’ Studio, No 57, 3rd floor, 6th main, 6th cross, Nagendrappa Block, next to PES PU College, Hanumanthanagar. The workshop will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on both the days.For details, call 9886062324.

DRAMA

‘Uttarabhoopa...’
Antharanga will stage a play titled Uttarabhoopa Bchi on the occasion of the birth centenary year of Bchi Antharanga, on July 14, 7 pm at Seva Sadan, Malleswaram. The play is based on the book of the same name. For details, call 9880914509.

‘Small Worlds’
As part of the AHA!
International Theatre for Children Fest ’13, on July 11, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm, Circular Theatre, Portugal will present ‘Small Worlds’ at Ranga Shankara.
It is devised, directed and performed by Joclécio Azevedo and Teresa Prima. This piece works like a little game, an open book that configures and displays environments, generating several variations of cognitive stimulation.
